Beware: Fake Banknotes
The Bank of Thailand has opened a post office box to trace counterfeit banknotes. People who find evidence of fake notes can send information to P.O. Box 18, Wang Devaves, Bangkok 10205.
The central bank will set aside 30% of the note’s value, to a maximum of 100,000 Baht, as a reward should any information lead to the arrest of wrongdoers.
According to one official, 500 Baht bank notes were the most frequently counterfeited from 2000 to 2002. The practice subsequently declined following a redesign,
