There was a time in history when England was a super power. England was one of the centers of civilized world. Europe and England had developed into one of the leaders of the modern world. The latest developments and discoveries were available in England. England was one of the leaders in architecture, art and fashion. England was exploring and developing the world. England was sending trading expeditions around the world to map the world and bring back to England the discoveries that the foreign countries had to offer. Admiral Lord Nelson was the man of the century. He was the hero of England. The tall ships of that time in history were a sight to see. These ships of the sea were huge and very fast. When all the sails where up and the ship was flying across the sea, leaning slightly in the wind with flags flying, there was no other more exciting and majestic sight in the world. This tall ship was the equivalent of todays international space station. It was the epitome of modern technology. It was the height of luxury in ocean cruising and world exploration. Now comes the “Admiral Lord Nelson’s” tavern, pub, bar, restaurant and first class ships hotel. You can see this wonder of the sea on Soi 6 (Soi Yodsak). It is located on the same side of the street as the “Queen Victoria Inn.” You will see the majestic exterior of a traditional English pub with the name of “Admiral Lord Nelson” on the side of the building in big and bold lettering. You will see crystal clear windows with curtains on the inside and a large wooden door with a bright brass door handle. Step inside, feel the air conditioning and smell the new wood of the walls, tables and chairs. Notice the pool table and the wooden floors. Set yourself down in one of the dark green padded private booths or belly up to the bar and order yourself a drink for the menu. You will have a choice of all the regular drinks of the world plus the traditional drinks of England and the world such as Blackhorn Cider, Strongbow Cider, Corona and Tetley’s Bitter. For a little more stimuli, try the taste of the whiskeys with the names of Glenfiddich, Famous Grouse and Jamesons. If you are hungry, there is a pot of soup by the door with a ladle and bowls. There is also a selection of fresh rolls. Now that you have settled in, take a moment to look around the walls at the collection of art. You will see pictures of the tall ships of the glorious past history. Maybe, take your drink with you and walk around the room and look back in time through these pictures to a time when England was in her glory. You will get a feeling for the excitement of the time. You can almost feel the wind at sea. You will also find a collect of sculpture inside the main entrance. You will also see etched glass windows of tall ships. The etched glass separates the private booths. You will also see a shadow box of the tall ships rope and tackle and other things from the tall ships. It is a small education in this wonderful world at “Admiral Lord Nelsons.” If you are lucky, you might be able to rent a room about the pub. The art and style of the tall ships of England and the history of the sea continues in the collection of art on the walls in the hallways and in the rooms. The rooms are new and have that new wood smell. The rooms will remind you of a ships cabin only these rooms are big and have todays ultra modern facilities. There are build-in tables and cupboards. You will have your own TV and DVD player. In the corner of the room is a build-in table with complimentary coffee or tea. There is a small refrigerator and a cloths closet. The rooms are air-conditioned and also have above the bed a huge brass fan for your enjoyment. The bed is built in the style of a ships platform bed. No, you won’t be sleeping in a ships hammock. They don’t carry this ships theme too far. If you are very, very lucky, you might be able to rent one of the two penthouse rooms. They are bigger and the have a wonderful balcony overlooking the sights and sounds and all the action of Soi Yodsak. It’s wonderful to be outside at night on the balcony, enjoying the warm weather, having a cool drink with a lovely lady and simply watching the world go by at your feet on the street below. What a great life for those lucky few who stay at the penthouse at “Admiral Lord Nelsons.” Security is above the norm. Fire safety is of the highest technology. Safety boxes for your valuables are available. Use them. Place you gold bullion, diamonds, rubies and emeralds and passport, credit cards, etc etc etc in the safety box. Make a photocopy of you passport and credit cards. Do not carry your original passport on you body. You are safe in Pattaya. You can walk down most streets at any time of day or night and be perfectly safe . . . but there are always the exceptions.
