10 billion, trillion, trillion carat diamond
Yes, sports fans! There is a burned out star out there in outer space that astronomers (Travis Metcalfe, of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) claim is crystallized carbon.
And as my wife informed me, that means that it is probably one huge diamond.
She asked me to go get it.
I explained that this burned out star, also know as a white dwarf, is located 300 trillion miles from Earth.
She said that she would wait for me to get back.
I don't know why they call this burned out star a dwarf when it is 2,500 miles across. Metcalfe said, You would need a jeweler's loupe the size of the sun to grade this diamond.
So I asked my wife to go find for me a jeweler's loupe big enough to judge the grade of this diamond and check it's color.
