Life is fabulous in Pattaya Ya Ya
Ya! The weather is perfect. Pattaya
is a bargain for the lucky few whom
vacation or retire here. It is a
shopper’s paradise. You can see it
in their smiles. Where else in the
world can you drink beer and eat
bugs with girls? There is a lot of
laughter. There are people from
around the world visiting and
retiring in Pattaya. This mix of
people proves that we can learn to
live, love and laugh together. Bring
you smile and laugh with us. The
food and music are good too.
There is an increase of people
visiting and retiring in Pattaya,
which means there is a beginning of
water shortages. The city is working
on plans to increase the water
supply. Do your part to conserve
water and don’t pollute either.
Pick up and clean up too. If you do
it, others will see you and follow
your excellent example.
The city is building wheelchair
access to beach road side walks so
you can cross beach road by
wheelchair. The sidewalks in front
of the shops on beach road are being
finished. I think the next thing to
come to Pattaya will be more parking
on beach road with the installation
of parking meters and the relocation
of rental cars and motorbikes. The
city is also planning to enforce
traffic laws and to require more
testing and training before you can
get a driver’s license.
Pattaya is becoming a popular
convention city and a retirement
community.Sports from around the
world have been looking at Pattaya
as an off season training
destination. There are a few hurtles
to overcome however. (Pun intended)
Pattaya now has a flying club. Call
Ivan 01 362-9480. There are dart
clubs, lawn bowling clubs and other
type clubs too. See the ads in this
paper.
If you have an old, sore and aching
body or arthritis, the warm weather
starting in March and after will
make you feel a lot better. Avoid
the extreme heat of the day by
taking a nap and don’t forget to
drink plenty of water. Also, Thai
soup has lots of electrolyte in it,
according to Dr Oliver. He’s the
Doctors Doctor. See his add in this
paper. The evening weather will be
perfect. The nightlife is coming
back “big-time”. The shows have
been upgraded.
Being a gastronome or culinary
expert or part of the
‘avant-garde’ is not being
someone who gorges his or her food
but someone who enjoys their food
and enhances that enjoyment by
experiencing that repast in
harmonious companionship. Pattaya is
blessed with a few fine-dining
restaurants. Each restaurant has its
charm and specialty. “Le Petrus”
has moved across the street to new
and better facilities on Soi Yamato.
(see ad) This little restaurant has
a regular clientele that revel in
the culinary delights of this quaint
and romantic little French
restaurant and the restaurant is a
member of the “Chaine des
Rotisseurs” since 1996. Also,
“Les Corsaires” restaurant,
hotel and bar has been completely
remodeled and upgraded. There are an
amazing number of world class
internationally trained great chefs
in Pattaya and Jomtien. Read the ads
in this paper and “bon a
petite”.
Golf tours are everywhere in this
paradise. Ask Tiger Woods. Most of
the courses are designed to
championship standards by the
world’s top names in golf
architecture. You can arrange to be
picked up at your accommodations and
escorted to one of many courses
around Pattaya at a very reasonable
price. There are 16 golf courses to
choose from. There are weekend
prices and weekday prices. The
tariff includes green fee, caddy fee
and transport. See www.pattayainfo.com for
everything you ever wanted to know
about golf in paradise and the land
of smiles. It is no exaggeration to
claim that hardly any other resort
in the world can offer so many
courses of such high standard at
such reasonable prices. If you have
never played golf, this is the time
and place to learn what all the fun
is about. Here is a big tip. Join
the Pattaya Sports Club for only 300
Baht and get discounts on golf,
hotels, restaurants and more.

A new, bigger and high-tech
horseracing track is on the drawing
board for Pattaya to replace the
existing smaller racetrack close to
Bangkok. It will be located on land
donated by Khun Kamnan Poh, which is
located along highway No. 331 near
Pattaya.
